Especially with so many phones out there, while they may be good, there's always something. I've had this Xperia PLAY for a couple of months now, and it's awesome. I had read the screen was too dark when gaming, but it's not true. So far, no freezes or delays and everything is really easy to find. If there was one thing that could be improved would be the weight: Having the gaming pad adds extra weight, but it's not a huge burden. This is a great entertainment piece(Gaming/Videos/internet), with solid construction, and has all the advantages of a great tool if you are a walking office: Integrates calendar with google, gmail, and can do Word, Excel, PDF, office mail, webmail, flash, Etc). Sweet deal. And best of all It Works Great! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you?  Report abuse | Permalink  Comment 4 of 12 people found the following review helpful this phone sucks, January 20, 2012 By  el Gnomo - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G Android Phone (AT&T) (Wireless Phone) So far, out of the three months I have had this phone, only for about a week did it actually open webpages as fast as an iphone 3g, which is nowhere near as fast as n iphone 3gs, much less 4/4s. Keep in mind this is a PlayStation phone, and it does not support playstation games. There are many problems with this phone, one of which is the slow speed, another being game incompatibility, aside from emulators, which offer another array of issues, and lastly, strange input reception. The phone has potential, but in this case, the android OS hinders, yes HINDERS it. By that i mean the phone is great for making/receiving calls, if you don't mind it blasting your ear off when it goes into speaker mode right on your ear, and for occasional texting, since the keyboard types whatever the heck it wants every now and then, eve with text correction/spell checker completly disabled. On the issue of gaming, the processor is well above an original PlayStation (PlayStation one, aka PSX) in terms of processing power, Xperia Play having 1Ghz while PSX has 33.8688 Mhz, overpowering the console 29.5:1, yet the xperia play still lags with games like bubsy, spyro the dragon, musashi, and virtually many others. Only manages to play games "optimized" for Xperia Play, which cost more than the original game at GameStop. If you still want to play games, there is a process to backwards engineer the preloaded games to figure out how to convert your legally owned psx games into Xperia Play format, though it is a hassle, and still not 100% compatible/convenient. Another issue is that even with many apps "disabled/killed" by the android task manager, the apps somehow are always running and never stop eating away at the already limited built in ram. All in all, the only thing i have enjoyed of this phone is the game shadowgun, which plays even better on my mom's iPad, so it's not even a plus for the phone, rather for the game, since it successfully kills all background tasks on the phone while you play, which is something the phone can't achieve on its own. as for 3g service, since 4g isn't available to everyone, including myself, the phone slows to halts frequently and many times crashes on apps such as firefox, facebook, wallbase, and some games, except shadowgun. Unfortunately, my two year old ipod touch does much more than this phone, having facetime to talk for free, and several messaging apps to cover all i can do on this phone. This phone deserves no more than 2 stars, one for the "PlayStation" title and one for shadowgun and its ability to actually use the whole processing power by itself, and nothing more.
