Telehook Swing Arm (articulating) TV Mount; model TH-1040-VFM

While a relatively high price is the only "con" of this product, here are the pros:

- It's very strong. E.g., the base-plate that bolts to the wall is 3/16" thick steel and the aluminum arms are quite thick. I mounted an 8 pound VIZIO E220VA 22 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV on the Telehook, which is handled with ease. Although rated at 55 pounds, this mount's petite size seems most appropriate for smaller TVs.

- The bearings have no excess play in any direction, so the TV doesn't droop regardless of placement. Also, the bearings are rather tight, so you have to push the TV make it move, which is how it should behave.

- The TV mounting plate is connected to a ball & socket. Therefore, the TV can be tilted up or down (about 5 degrees), swivelled left or right, or rotated to virtually any viewing location, simply by holding the TV and moving it to the desired position/angle. While this works wonderfully on our 8 pound TV, my guess is the ball/socket would be under great strain with a 55 pound TV.

Very few mounts have the ability to rotate (level) the TV without tools, and fewer still have a tool-less forward/backward tilt; i.e. most require you to loosen a nut (via a handle) to make that happen. The tightness of the socket around the ball is adjustable with an included custom wrench. Heavier TVs will require a tighter ball-socket than small TVs.

- The support arms are polished aluminum with an attractive finish. The whole setup is attractive.

- Cables can be hidden on the top and/or bottom of the aluminum frame, covered with plastic covers screwed in place.

- The included mounting plate (see Customer Images) accepts the following VESA mounting hole patterns:

... 75mm x 75mm (3" x 3")
... 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4")
... 200mm x 100mm (8" x 4")
... 200mm x 200mm (8" x 8")

An optional adapter plate (AC-AP-4040) is available for larger hole spans, but it's absurdly over-priced at . If your TV needs that plate, consider buying a larger TV mount, such as this one: Telehook Swing Arm Mount.

- Extends from the wall from 4" to 17 3/4".

Other:

- Telehook includes a wide variety of hardware such as multiple sizes of mounting plate screws, spacers, and washers. Also included are two 5/16" x 2" lag screws, adequate for mounting to a wood stud through
